Life is Better Working At Home In Colorado Springs

If you don’t have your own home business yet, you must have a great Colorado Springs corporate job. If that’s not the case and you need to supplement your income, why not consider an easy home business?

Think of all the pros of running a business in your Denver home! You will save on gas if you don’t need to commute. (That’s a significant source of savings right there.) You can write off some of your mortgage or rent. You can set your own hours and be your own boss. Sound good?

If you have decided to launch your own Colorado Springs home business, the next step is choosing which one. I suggest a direct selling business. Today’s MLMs are much better than the companies of the past. It has never been easier to run an MLM from your Colorado Springs home.

Most of the current network marketing companies don’t require affiliates to purchase large inventories. You can buy product as you go and you won’t need to take out a loan to start your company.

I am a home based business owner in Denver with a large XoBiotic Squares network marketing business. If you are unsure about MLMs, give me a call and I will give you the straight story.

Fun Exercise Ideas For Manitou Springs Kids

When our young family moved to Colorado we were totally stoked about the “purple mountains and azure sky” and Colorado Springs’ amazing parks and trails.   We never ran out of things to do, and most of our activities provided at least a little bit of exercise. We have fond memories of afternoon walks, bike rides , camping in all seasons, warm summer nights playing capture the flag and swimming at the neighborhood community pool.

Unfortunately, many of today’s children spend hours daily in sedentary activities. Exercise benefits our physical, mental, and emotional health. Perhaps you might enjoy participating in some of these with your son or daughter.

Fun exercise suggestions:

  • Fly a kite (It’s even more fun if you sing the song from Mary Poppins while you are doing it.)
  • Wheels: bike, skateboard, longboard, inline skates, rip stick, scooter (don’t forget a helmet!)
  • Rake the yard
  • Hula hoop
  • Martial arts
  • Juggling
  • Hacky sack
  • Badminton
  • Weight lifting
  • Walking in the park
  • Ultimate frisbee
  • Tossing the football
  • Soccer
  • Flying remote-control airplanes in the park
  • Hopscotch
  • Jump-roping
  • Tug-of-war
  • Water fights

I am concerned about the state of children’s health in Colorado and like to share information about health issues in my blog. If you are looking for a low-fat, high antioxidant chocolate product that tastes like a diet-buster, call me today. I sell XoBiotic Squares and Xocai Nuggets, two tasty treats that help my kids stay healthy.

New Sunscreen Recommendations For Colorado Springs Infants

Friday, January 20th, 2012

New Sunscreen Recommendations For Colorado Springs Infants¡Hola! Today I was at one of our neighborhood stores looking at baby clothes. They looked so soft and smelled as good as babies do.  Love them! When at home, I did some research and learned that the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that changes in the skin that lead to skin cancer may actually occur in a person’s first year. However, sunscreen is not recommended for Colorado Springs children under six months of age. What’s a parent to do?

Denver parents should be aware that infants have a much higher body surface to volume ratio than adults. Because of this, babies absorb much more of the chemicals in the sunscreen.

In addition, younger babies don’t sweat as efficiently as those older, so they are at greater risk of becoming dehydrated, and sunscreen can impair effective cooling by perspiration.

So parents should dress infants in protective clothing and hats and keep them in the shade. If needed, a little sunscreen can be used on the face and hands, where sunburns often occur in young children.

Manitou Springs Home Business Tax Write-Offs

Manitou Springs Home Business Tax Write-Offs

Hello home based business owners in Manitou Springs! Today’s blog is about saving money with home business tax write-offs. If you are running your own direct sales business or online store out of your Manitou Springs home, you can take advantage of several tax breaks.

A percentage of your rent or mortgage and utilities can be deducted. If you use your computer exclusively for running your business, you may be able to write off the entire purchase price. Don’t forget to include the monthly fee to your internet service provider (I put this expense under the utilities category mentioned previously.)

Gasoline and auto maintenance expenses can take a large chunk of your income, especially as Manitou Springs gas prices continue to rise. Don’t forget to expense the business portion of your transportation costs.

You can’t write off 100 percent of business meals eaten in Denver restaurants, but you may be able to expense 50 percent. The amount may seem too little to bother with, or on the other hand, it may surprise you. The key to getting the most tax savings possible is keeping good records and adding up all the little savings.

Here’s wishing all Manitou Springs home business owners a smaller tax bill this year!

Is My Colorado Baby Ready For Solids?

Is My Colorado Baby Ready For Solids?

Although Monument pediatricians generally recommend starting infants on solid foods when they are around six months of age, there are important developmental milestones that must be reached before your baby can take this step.

Even if an infant’s digestive system is ready for solid food, the baby must be able to safely swallow it. A baby should be able to sit with assistance but hold his or head up on their own. Without head and neck control, eating solids is difficult and dangerous. Many Monument pediatricians also advise parents to wait until an infant shows interest in what other family members are eating.

If you are unsure if your infant is ready for solid food, check with your Monument pediatrician. Remember that for the first year your baby’s nutrition will still come primarily from breast milk or formula.

My name is Elsa Shields. I am an advocate for children’s health and nutrition in Monument. I also sell XoBiotic Squares, a nutritional powerhouse. For more information on XoBiotic Squares, call me today at 719.439.0142.

Oral Rinses For Healthy Children’s Teeth In Monument

Oral Rinses For Healthy Children's Teeth In Monument

Some pediatric dentists in the Monument area are advising Colorado parents to have their child use an oral rinse that contains fluoride. This has caused some parents to wonder if the use of an oral rinse is helpful for tooth decay prevention even if the child is taking a fluoride supplement.

The answer to that, according to my Monument children’s dentist, is ‘Yes’. Why?

Fluoride supplements (usually only recommended if the municipal water is not fluoridated) help the teeth that are still forming in the jaw. Oral rinses, however, protect the teeth that have already come in. Fluoride supplements combined with an oral rinse strengthen all teeth: both baby and adult teeth.

OTC fluoride rinses (like ACT) can aid in children’s tooth decay prevention in Monument. Monument dentists recommend kids swish the rinse around in their mouth after they brush and floss. The solution should be the last thing to touch their teeth before going to bed.

I am Elsa Shields, a children’s health advocate in Monument and Xocai Nuggets representative.

Energy Drinks Pose Health Risks For Colorado Kids

Energy Drinks Pose Health Risks For Woodland Park Kids

Hello Colorado ! Welcome to my children’s health blog. I am a concerned parent and advocate for improved children’s health in the Woodland Park area.

Today’s topic is energy drinks. Many teens are under the false impression that energy drinks like Rock Star and Red Bull are similar to sports drinks such as Gatorade and Powerade.

Energy drinks are completely different from electrolyte replacement drinks and we need to help our children understand the health risks they pose. Energy drinks contain dangerous chemicals that can harm kid’s growing bodies, especially their teeth.

Energy drinks contain citric acid, fruit juices and extracts, sugar, and a dangerous chemical that gives them their bright color. They can damage tooth enamel with prolonged use.

It is important for us Colorado Springs parents to model healthy behavior for our children. If your kids see you guzzle energy drinks, you may want to think about the example you are setting.

I sell child-friendly nutritional products that are enjoyed by healthy families. To order healthy energy-boosters, visit

Is Shift Work Making You Sick In Colorado?

Is Shift Work Making You Sick In Colorado?

A big perk of owning your own Manitou Springs home based business is having a degree of control over your work schedule. Of course you need to fill your orders and provide attentive and responsive customer service, but you can usually choose when to devote time to these tasks.

Manitou Springs entrepreneurs with a healthy work/life balance probably have less stress-induced illnesses than people who are locked into shift work. Swing and graveyard shift workers in Manitou Springs are at even greater risk for stress-induced health problems.

In my opinion, flexibility is as valuable as residual income.
The Xocai Nuggets home business opportunity provides both.

If you would like to know how my Manitou Springs Xocai Nuggets business provides a healthy work/life balance, give me a call or send me an email.

The Xocai Nuggets opportunity may be your ticket to a healthier life.
